Wrexham ( REKS-əm; Welsh: Wrecsam; Welsh pronunciation: [ˈrɛksam]) is a large market town and the administrative centre of Wrexham County Borough in Wales. It is located between the Welsh mountains and the lower Dee Valley neighbouring the English county of Cheshire. Historically part of Denbighshire, the town became part of Clwyd in 1974 and has been the principal centre of Wrexham County Borough since 1996.
