"(How Much Is) That Doggie in the Window?" is a popular novelty song. It was written by Bob Merrill, and first published on September 25, 1952 as "The Doggie in the Window". On January 27, 1953, it was published in New York as "How Much is That Doggie in the Window?". The song was loosely based on the folk tune "Carnival of Venice" and the song "Oh, Where, Oh, Where, Has my Little Dog Gone?". The song's lyrics ask how frequently a dog can be seen in a window.
