  • Interview Process: Dear All, I am writing to seek your attention at a problem that I experienced during the interview process. It is a problem that is causing me some concerns and that I want all interview candidates to be aware of. I hope in doing so you will take your decisions wisely. In the last 3 weeks of December, I'm being interviewed for the position of Postgresql Database Administrator comprising of 4 rounds. I come to know about this opportunity via the Hexagonselect consultancy. During my first interaction with the consultancy's representative, I mentioned that I will need amount X as my starting salary with Persistent Systems, and as I will be relocating to a different city I mentioned that I won't be able to negotiate my salary package. (Please forgive me as I can't disclose the salary package but X is the number in Indian Currency). Now, after completing 4 rounds of the interview process, in the final round, I was informed that as the salary amount I'm asking for is more than what Persistent Systems can afford, my application is rejected. Later on, after taking follow-up from my side, I come to know that I can get X - N amount as my salary, where X is the initial salary I asked, clearly mentioning that I can't negotiate and N is the amount carrying negotiating factor came from HR of the Persistent Systems. Please allow me to give more information about the incident: 1. Consultancy's representative is saying that she in fact filled my application with amount X (the package which I'm asking for and I'm unable to negotiate). 2. I have attended the 4 rounds of interviews either by adjusting my work shifts or by taking leaves from my job which mostly happened after the working hours (slightly late in the evening). 3. Many times consultancy's representative and Persistent's HR are denying my request for feedback and not replying to the mails. 4. There was no synchronization between the HR and consultancy. Being a well-known multinational Indian company, I attended all interviews with so much excitement and preparation but the current situation I explained in the email has made me upset. I tried to contact Persistent Systems via email, web-site form, HR emails, Twitter but no response. I hope the lession I have learnt will turn helpful for others.
